Trying to add a cohesive narrative to a crossover fighting game is futile and pointless. Remember Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe? Ugh.
It’s the image I have a problem with. Not the title. I had no idea that Mean Bean Machine was anywhere near this game until I played it, which I’m glad of: I think it’s unfair on players who haven’t had chance to play it.
I am so glad I played Sonic Mania before seeing this article. The Chemical Plant Zone boss reveal was brilliant. Bit of a shame that you’re spoiling it in the header image a whole 24 hours after its release. Maybe change it?
Hah, this is a wonderful story. Just what you need on a Monday.
Yup. I’m getting much, much better performance in Korok Forest (I’ve also got it running right this second and, again, in handheld mode).
This one is superior, to be honest
I spent absolutely ages outside the shrine, looking up at the sky, wondering when the solution would present itself.
I was pretty impressed with Mario Kart 8's DLC packages (and their price), so I’m hopeful they’ll be able to do the same with this.
I watched this the other day and really enjoyed it. Gamexplain are one of my favourite channels on YT and they clearly put a lot of effort into their analysis.
I’d still recommend it. They’re small, contained sections. There’s plenty else to kill in the game.
Oh and additionally: the opening prologue (the Guest House) is probably one of the finest openings to a video game in my opinion. I absolutely loved it.
This is a really excellent review, and worth waiting for. I do disagree with the boss fights (well, the majority of them, one was an absolute slog): I really enjoyed the claustrophobia and felt that the equalisers were just about difficult enough to find. The first “major” fight in the garage, for example, caught me…
Jesus. Their “#topbantz” is so awful, I’ve cringed myself into a pretzel.
Each new trailer and the Toybox+ has made me incredibly excited to play the full version. As someone who loved Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, this just looks and feels perfect. And I cannot get enough of the garbled “speech” from each character.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see YL in some form during the Switch presentation in January.
It was! If you can track down a copy (either the N64 or 360 Arcade version) it’s well worth giving a try!
I love me a good video game UI and this looks genuinely great. Much prefer clean and concise to cluttered and confusing.
Haha - good ol’ Ronnie. Pool Nation VR is actually really fun (when you’re not faceplanting). Was fortunate enough to have a go at a friends’ house (although it is weird to grab the entire world and spin it to get a better angle on a shot).
I love everything about this story. In a week where we’ve had Trump throwing his shit from within the cage of his own making, this is a wonderfully well placed umbrella.
