I thought Seth's run was unremarkable from a satire standpoint, but I always felt that he was one of the stronger Weekend Update anchors in SNL history in terms of his interactions with the panel guests - he had the Kermit the Frog-esque exasperation with how bad the guests were at doing their jobs down to a science.

While she was fine (and certainly better than Jost), she wasn't particularly good at interacting with "guests" on Weekend Update and more enjoyable when doing characters herself IMO. Girl You Regret Talking to at a Party was her first real breakout role, after all.

Maybe they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt at this point, but I think I Can't Stop Partying is at least attempting to be a tiny bit subversive by portraying it's narrator as literally addicted to partying and the vocal delivery certainly sounds ambivalent about the whole thing, like a sex addict talking about

I've always felt that everyone railing about how they want a dark, mature Zelda was missing the point entirely. I mean, I enjoy the crazy, super-evil bosses, but the entire game shouldn't be grisly and grimy, and Link shouldn't be a badass.

Yeah, that definitely won't really work with any type of icing other than the stiff-fondant kind that he shows here (which is everyone's least-favorite kind).

I'm assuming somehow Roger ends up with it.

So what happens to Bert's portion?

I could see sexual frustration as a contributing factor that could drive someone over the edge, but it's likely more of a symptom of his dysfunction and psychosis than a cause. Sure, if he were in a healthy relationship he'd probably be less angry, but he probably can't really sustain any kind of relationship due to

Yeah, "statute of limitiations" is probably not the right term, but you'd probably have a hard time arguing that Led Zeppelin hasn't been worth enough to sue at any point in the last 30+ years.

I love Led Zeppelin, but I don't doubt that Robert Plant and Jimmy Page are egotistical wonks since giving credit/paying royalties seems like the least you could do when ripping off a song wholesale like those early blues tracks they did. This one, I'd file under "inspired by," but still they could give a credit in

Yeah that might be a big part of why it seems lost as of late; it's a similar problem to what happened with The Simpsons, where everyone who works on the show now grew up watching it, so it feels like kids attempting to ape what came before rather than do anything that's actually personal.

I think the "write what you want, not what you think they want" line is fairly sound advice for most creative pursuits, in songwriting or fiction or what-have-you, it's always better to tell a specific story written from a place of experience rather than trying to write something universal.

Yeah I agree. She seems talented but hasn't really done anything exceptional in her five years on the show. I think she's a decent utility performer, but I'm not going to miss her Kim Kardashian or Arianna Huffington impressions.

Pedrad seems like she can be funny, but has never done anything on the show that truly made her stand out and I can't say that I'll miss her recurring characters, most of whose defining feature is having a gratingly nasal voice. Bayer is also funny at times but other than the bar mitvah boy pretty much every character

Well said. I think the biggest thing the show has lost in the last few years (since Tina Fey's departure, maybe?) is any coherent point of view on the culture at large. At it's best, SNL can feel absolutely vital, but not if it's just a collection of silliness.

I didn't get a Community notification for this?!

Did anybody catch the translation of the newspaper at the end? Were there any good Easter eggs for the multi-lingual?

I have a feeling that the higher the amount of money you put in, the less interesting the results are going to be, since it's effectively just going to give you as many as possible of whichever item has the highest calories to cost ratio, and then maybe one or two of the cheapest items to eat up the change.

Well, by 1969 I think he at least must have seen a television, and know that ads are on them (like when Don won the Cleo).

Like most people with persecution complexes, she has an uncanny ability to ignore nonverbal communication and take everything everyone says the wrong way and assumes everyone is as petty and vindictive as she is.
