It was rather awkward, but the guys on the Jamaican team were pretty obviously only there because of the movie to begin with, so they were sort of complicit in the patronization.

Wood chopping is actually probably more of a sport (i.e. the Lumberjack World Championships) by the definition that it is an objectively measurable contest.

Sure, but it's possible to be a world-class curler and not be in very good shape. I don't think the same is true of ice dancing.

Now I'm going to have nightmares of Fox covering the Olympics with their dumbass jumping robot mascot thing

They're generally pretty built, but they look more like offensive lineman than the zero-percent-bodyfat Adonises of every other event (except curling).

Yeah, I mean, I don't have a problem with curling, but if you're going to complain about an event not being a "real sport," it's clearly first in line.

I don't know how anyone could complain about ice dancing not being a sport when there's curling, which is essentially horseshoes on ice. Even the two-man bobsled hardly requires peak physical condition. At least the ice dancers don't look like they down a six-pack of bud light every night.

The way Lovitz was offended at Nick for pointing out the punchlines to his jokes was pretty great. "These two Jews happened to be wealthy, but they worked hard!"

I hope more and more characters keep moving into the loft until they form a Rat King.

Yep, NBC gave Conan an ultimatum. They wanted to move The Jay Leno Show from before the local news to after it (historically The Tonight Show's timeslot), pushing The Tonight Show and Late Nite back by half an hour each.

I would characterize it more as he's good at being "safe." His show will never be too experimental, or too racy, or too poorly-executed. Leno is a comedian who'd rather make everyone in the room chuckle than make six guys in the corner laugh until they can't breathe. That's kind of exactly what you need as a network

I'm really glad this season seems to be finding more room for Pharoah to do things other than Obama and Denzel and Principal Frye.

He also did it on the Norm McDonald Sports Show quite a bit. I think there's room in the world for two people who were influenced by weird public access stuff.

It's "in stride," not "with stride."

There were definitely some miscues and it seemed like some kind of backstage technical difficulty going on during that sketch. Also, it seemed like nobody knew where to stand and people were blocking McCarthy from the camera while she was talking during parts of it, which added to the awkward feeling. It kinda felt

Yeah, it was pretty great despite being a fairly hackneyed concept. The execution just killed it. Though I think it would have made more sense if they had been introduced as a "regional theatre troupe" or something instead of the "best and brightest of broadway."

Yeah, binge watching comedy doesn't really work. After about two hours you just kind of stop laughing at anything.

I always thought that, while the characters on Sunny are parodies of sitcom characters, always spoiling to get into some hijinks "versus" someone, the guys on Workaholics are basically a satire of the new American ideal of getting paid to do nothing and goofing off all the time.

I was just glad we got out of it without seeing Jonah Hill pantomime fucking himself, which is where it totally seemed to be going.

I guess that I feel like the current writers and cast actually have ideas and things to say and make attempts to play with the format of the show and it doesn't feel totally neutered by not wanting to pick sides on anything or upset anyone as much as it has seemed to in the last few years.
