I don't see how it would have any more consequences than linking to a Youtube page with copyrighted content. They didn't embed it directly, it's up to Youtube (or in this case, Mega.co.nz) to comply with any takedown notices.
I just feel like we're leaving a hole in the middle of our block…
Yeah, I think any initially lukewarm reaction was mostly due to the first watch mostly being consumed with piecing the story together. The episodes are all much funnier on re-watch (and so packed full of little gags that re-watches are basically a must).
Something I didn't notice the first time through but became clear on rewatching: that whole sequence is an extended parody of The Social Network's brainstorming scenes, right down to the cinematography and editing (especially all the reflictive surfaces when they're in the lab).
In what way is it misguided? If the title winds up implying that the female character is equivalent to half a man, isn't that pretty offensive? Granted, I've only ever seen like thirty consecutive seconds of this awful show before flipping so maybe I'm missing something.
You mean because he's gay? I think he's more bisexual than gay, really. He even says he's "buy curious" at the wig shop in For British Eyes Only. Or at any rate he's too closeted to realize that he's gay so he's attracted to mannish women, or women who look like Lindsay.
Yeah, that shot and one other one from that sequence (where the whole group was walking along a path and were clearly not touching the ground) looked like they were from Awesome Show. Others were kind of noticeable but not too distractingly bad.
None of the non-youtube videos work right for me in Chrome (they generally play for about 20 seconds and then just stop, clicking restarts them at the beginning and the same thing happens again), but I haven't had any crashes.
@avclub-ab7d240c84d7265faec0b698a29c6ca7:disqus It's not that there needs to be some kind of "and they lived happily ever after" type of permanent resolution for these characters, but setting up a bunch of (what appears to be) season-long arcs for each character and then just leaving most of them unresolved is a…
I could see them bringing him back as some kind of story consultant, but likely in a diminished role without "final cut" or whatever, so that they're not relying on him to not fuck up the scheduling and make everything late and stuff.
Yeah it seems impossible that he'd come back as full showrunner at this point, with all the other projects he's gotten involved in since being ousted. Maybe he'll be some sort of story consultant, which would probably help with the quality of the upcoming episodes so hooray, but I'm sure he's under contract to Fox and…
@avclub-41e23e24ee2670c4128cd7e5e5ee42ab:disqus I agree. I think pretty much all the issues with the new season are a direct result of the crazy production.
As Mitch Hurwitz says in his recent interview here, he already knows how the movie will end, and it's on a cliffhanger, so apparently there's never going to be any real resolution.
The first couple episodes especially seem mixed poorly, with way too much background noise and score compared to the levels for the dialog. However it seems to be getting better as the season progresses, or else I'm just getting used to it.
I thought Wiig was fine as young Lucille, but Rogan was really mumble-y and didn't really do anything that seemed like George Senior.
True, while Community's problems seemed to stem from its new showrunners not really understanding the characters or how to tell a distinctly Community story, the problems with Arrested Development are all pretty much directly due to the scheduling issues that prevented them from getting all of the cast in one room at…
He was never very competent. It's repeatedly shown in the original run of the series that his employees all hate him and are scared of him, he makes them work ungodly hours for no reason, and many of the last minute fixes that keep the company from going under are not his doing (like moving down a floor in their…
I got that feeling too, that there are several points where this season pushes the characters past hilariously pathetic into just depressingly pathetic. It's hard to laugh at someone when you just feel bad for them. Sleeping with Lucille 2 for money seemed way out of character for Michael, and kind of destroyed his…
I never really understood why he was living with George Michael instead of at one of the Sudden Valley homes. I guess they said there was no internet in the Sudden Valley development, but certainly he could sleep there and then do his online college thing at a coffee shop or something?
