Here is a serious, simple tip for a newcomer to Pokemon in your situation:
@AncientUnknown1: Yeah, that is a pretty fair point. I don't know if they will since the series sells so well, but the numbers trailed off quite a bit with the sequel, due to the fact that PS3 owners actually had other things to choose from (unlike launch title Resistance 1)
I actually kind of would like to see them work on something new. Maybe a fresh take on Ratchet can really push it forward too, and Resistance was not a masterpiece or anything, so a different developer on that series could potentially make it better as well.
@galm666: Thanks for the info! You guys have kind of re-sold me on the game, so I might give the demo another shot with a more open mind, or just go for it and buy the game.
@FlashFlashCarCrash: Hahahaha, the last paragraph got me.
The problem, for me, is that you're frame of mind on technology isn't cohesive with the industry's. What I mean by that is that TVs are basically HD or nothing at this point. I have one, you probably have one, we all probably have at least 5 friends that have one, and if you buy a new TV, you will have one. The…
@Kaminari: What it is or is not isn't really my problem with it though—hell, I am glad that it isn't like GTA!—it's more the execution I'm talking about.
@Rokeden: Ahhh man, you can't do that to me.
@Foggen: It's true that the 360 version is worse on more accounts than people list (d-pad, being one of them), but that is better than not being there at all.
@LordThayer: Not that there is anything wrong with some mindless action from time to time. What I'm getting at is that they need variety.
Personally, I am happy that it is on 360 now, so all these kids that are growing up on Xbox right now can have something other than mindless shooters and trash talking in their lives. I am honestly afraid of what games the kids growing up on the 360 are going to make if it continues in the direction it is going in.
@galm666: This is the kind of stuff I want to hear. Again, I am basing all of what I'm saying on a short demo that I played, so you have to forgive some of my preconceived notions; I just knew I was playing a game where I was getting cell-phone call missions, random missions on the street from people, with a mini-map…
Maybe someone can help me with something here.
As if the people in the Kotaku forums had any more reason to resent Activision.
@Surreal_Sunshine: You're not punk and I'm telling everyone: Well, the earlier article mentioned performing Kung Fu, so if it were just the controls above with side-chopping opponents (and hopefully pedestrians) a la Road Rash, I would be down.
I need to know more about the Kung fu element of it before I make an assessment. The afore-mentioned controls combined with kung fu chopping passerbys could be incredible.
@hatmantc: Yeah my (Best Buy) store gets in a few every week or two of both (usually between 6 - 8), but none of the stores in our district have had enough supply to keep up with demand. I have been having to hold PS3s for friends and regulars that come in.
Not sure about other areas, but in the Southeast at least, there has been a big shortage of PS3s and Wiis since Christmas time.
@TheCatInTheHat: Hopefully the difficulty of development for the PS3 will discourage the flood.
Hesitantly optimistic.
