I just think it's funny that they claim to explore the "realism" of the story when they keep that part intact.

C'mon io9, don't get anyone's hopes up by calling it a "cartoon series" when all we're getting are shorts barely over a minute long, sprinkled into an hour-long programming block— sometimes.

If they're so confident that DLC (particularly on day one) isn't as evil as everyone says it is, you know what would help their case? Transparency. What do the actual producers say, then? Let them justify the DLC's existence.
