I’ve planned to do Skyline at least 3 times in the past 5 years. Every time something doesn’t work out. Hope you guys got the chance to spend a good amount time outdoors in our section of the Rockies. There’s lots to do and see.

It’s not fore sure that 100% of the technology is contained on the cars. Some aspects of the technology may require wayside communications - interacting with traffic signals, speed limits, communicating about delays. Also, the cheapest/best way to get information on where the road actually is may be with on-road

Not to take away from the sentiment - but don’t overreact to that photo. The new PM is a close talker.

I was with you until you said 10 years... I am in a similar situation and 33 years old.

There was a guy canned from his job where I work because the senior leadership felt that staring a tweet meant endorsing it. From the former employee’s point of view, it just meant that he was promoting it as a legitimate point of view in the debate. Boss said, “nope, you’re fired”.

I also noticed that this animated photo is an insanely great example of this feature.

tldr version of post: life is shorter eating crappy food.

Now playing

I used to build grain bins - that’s how they’re done. Top first.

civil engineer or do you work for the PCA?

I agree! Actually I sort of disagree - there are several reasons that caricature exists. A contributing factor is confirmation bias and the extremely memorable image of someone out of the ordinary doing something that catches your attention (like the dude pictured irritating everyone and then blowing stop signs). So I

We do intercept surveys on the facilities (as in ask people to stop and answer a few questions). We also have a regular count program where we monitor the number of cyclists on select facilities. Interestingly, with the more separated facilities we build we see more of a gender balance we see with cyclists.

Every time I build cycling infrastructure I see significant gains in the amount of people using it and the amount of people who report they are new cyclists.

The point of the article was that there is design to accommodate cyclists specifically at intersections. As in not sharing space with pedestrians or cars.

While there are no shortage of infractions from those riding bikes - the same can be said of motorists.

You are missing the benefits of cycling. More environmentally friendly, promotes health, space efficient, cheap to ride your bike, much cheaper to build for bikes than cars, and of course just the regular joy people experience riding their bike.

While there are no shortage of infractions from those riding bikes - the same can be said of motorists.

They are actually there to manage the number of vehicles on the highway. The roadway is most efficient just below its capacity - once you go over capacity you usually get a jam (technically it’s hard to predict what happens - which usually means a jam). The ramp meters restrict the number vehicles from each ramp

I totally agree with you. Just a difference between cultures on norms.

Even the dirtiest coal plants are better than the bunker oil burning large ships.
