@SophT - In the spirit of immersion (which is a word I was surprised not to find in the article!), I'll give it a try to go all in. What are your thoughts on subtitles? Is it better to have the help right there (and run the risk of tuning audio out and just reading), or run the risk of being completely lost for…
E' vero!
printf("It sure does!");
I just moved to Italy, and I'm really trying to work on putting myself in situations when I can use what I've learned. Taxi rides are nice, in that you can talk about anything, and there's a discrete ending to the conversation. Staying switched "On" is exhausting, but these are little bursts that can help you increase…
The original bboard posting at Carnegie Mellon when the first emoticons were "formally" developed echos most of these sentiments as the reason it came about:
@timgray: You just need a higher resolution water with a higher bit-rate.
I find it funny that the source link to the article is at the end of the LH article.
@RabidTurtl: If your laptop gets stolen, its ripe for identity theft. Emails, auto-logon for facebook or gmail - ways for people to pretend to be you, or just make your life a pain in the butt.

I voted for truecrypt because it provides a way to secure the computer (Full disk encryption, which isn't really mentioned in the description above.)
When purchasing your ticket, if you can, request a low-sodium or low-fat (or other special needs meal.) It gives the airline time to stock it for you, and its often better quality than the normal food service. Plus, low sodium is healthier anyway.
@LucyLu: Overhead baggage room. If you can put your stuff above you, it doesn't have to be shoved under the seat in front of you, leaving room for your feet. If you're the last one to board on a crowded flight, good luck finding a place for your carry on.
VOTE: TrueCrypt
I can't vote for the built-in iPod/iPhone alarm, since I can't pick a song or playlist - just a ring tone. But other than that, it has all the features I need: Multiple alarms by day.
isn't this entirely culture-specific? I've been in the middle east and south-east asia, where handshakes are completely different - very limp, a shake or two, but then the grip can last upwards of 30 seconds. I've had short conversations before the hand release. Very awkward for a westerner the first few times. I've…
I completely disagree:
Wow. I guess I'm alone in suggesting a wide-range zoom like the 18-200mm (Nikon user here; don't know other vendors)
I don't need to track by job, so one thing i do:
