Regarding Sting, if by “at some point soon” you mean “like ten years ago” then yes, you’re absolutely correct.

I’m somewhat hearing-impaired, which makes listening to foreign languages that much harder - but a trick that I use communicating in English turned out to be helpful with other languages.

This is 100% my problem. I also struggle with speaking foreign languages because I have a hard time keeping track of whole sentences. Instead of speaking fluidly like I do with English, I fall into the trap of thinking of what I want to say in English, then trying to translate it out loud, which simply doesn’t work…

Yup, even after many many years of trying to learn French, the one thing that is consistently hard for me is listening. The only thing that I’ve found to help is immersion. Simply listening for hours on end.
