So I’m assuming we will get a whimsical puff piece about Mike Pence? I watched the video assuming it might have some material related to the article or cars at least but apparently not. What is this? Can we keep the politics off Jalopnik please or at least keep it balanced? Thank you!

More like why do we care about this on Jalopnik?

Really? Wow I didn’t know that.

I wish I lived in the world where I could even apply for this thing to be rejected :’(

I haz a sad.

You’d be shocked and appalled if you knew what your state motor vehicle department did with your personal information.

Don’t worry about your insurance company, or your dealership, or your maintenance facility selling your personal info to advertisers.

Worry about your government doing it.

Because they do.

next time ask him if it covers you when you leave Cars and Coffee.

“Sir, we’re sorry to hear this, however, we cannot offer an extended warranty on your daughter.”

They waited three days before calling back again instead of the usual 2?

I got one of those “IRS” robo-voice voice mails a month ago. It was so funny I kept it to play for people. Part of me hates the people who do this very amoral and illegal crap. Another part of me hates that there are people in control of any amount of money who are dumb enough to fall for it.

Another horrible example for America’s youth, when will people finally learn to hold their phone properly while shooting video? smdh

Fair. But things stack up. You’re using your Autopilot. You have it set to higher than the legal speed. You’re not supervising its operation. Negligence is a word that comes to mind.

We just aren’t there yet. They’ve gradually increased speeds as survive-ability went up. But 70-80 MPH into a solid block of concrete (or whatever they use) is going to fail every single car.

To your point, and just a fun anecdote, my firm once had a client who was contesting a speeding ticket. The cop claimed to sitting at point X, thus we knew, roughly the location of the supposed speeding.

That’s really great...presuming you apply the brakes. Can’t do that when you’re not paying attention to the road in front of you.

Note that in all that data dump, there’s no mention of when - or if - the brakes were applied...that absence is revealing.

One can get all metaphysical and argue that had he been going the

Clearly the solution is to lower all speed limits to 20 mph, not leave more distance between cars when driving.
