It’s kind of scary how elected officials will completely defer to sportsball owners who end up screwing the taxpayers with their publicly funded sportsball stadiums. And then to turn around and screw the people even further by charging them exorbitant parking fees and making it illegal to walk into those publicly…

I live in Grant Park, current home of the Braves. When the city of Atlanta declined to cave to the Braves’ demands for a new stadium, I was sad we’d no longer be able to walk to games, but happy my city wasn’t complicit in subsidizing rich private corporations.

They’re fine with that ‘cause Uber users are hip young millennials. They just wanted to make sure they had a location as far away from MARTA as possible so that those people wouldn’t be able to make it up to games.

Braves owners are more interested in the real estate development surrounding the new (taxpayer-subsidized) ballpark and fees from TV and digital content. I think fans in the stands are lower on their list of priorities.

Wait, you mean our elected officials can be bought, and make policies that serve special interests with money over the common good of their constituents? Color me shocked at this alarming allegation!

I’m sure some of them were given generous campaign donations.
