Doesn’t stop people from doing it... I don’t know how some people see out their windows at night.

Blocking by categories really grinds my gears... I am allowed to install Chrome, but the installer site is blocked as “Downloads” so then I have to go home, download it to a flash drive, then bring it to work to install it. If that weren’t insecure enough, trying to update it also fails because the updater needs to

The day IT blocks Jalopnik is the day I probably start looking for a new job. Mainly because if they figured out what Jalopnik is, they’re probably already tracking my browsing habits and I’m in trouble...

Atlanta is a confusing shit show of infrastructure... The interstates aren’t bad, but seriously who the hell laid out the roads? No major street has the same name for more than 5 miles, much less progress in a straight-ish manner. Not to mention every street is named “Peachtree Industrial Ferry Bridge Rd.”

Seriously

Yes, being a Focus ST owner myself and being in a large metro ST enthusiast group, I see many, many douches. Sadly I have been unsuccessful in dissuading them from street racing “in Mexico.” Their typical response is “So you never exceed the speed limit?!?!?” just like a douche would say.

I’m not advocating getting an STI. This is my list of driver’s I assume are douches. Someone who buys an STI is for me assumed to be like 10x as douchey as a WRX driver. WRX still makes my list, but isn’t in the top 10.

I’m new to the area, but the way highways work is not unique to Atlanta (the traffic is though). Indianapolis has an eerily similar interstate setup to Atlanta and a similar type of “connector” where I-70 and I-65 are concurrent through downtown (with only 3 lanes though) and the same shit happens. The speed limit

How many lifetimes were “saved” by increasing the speed limits? Saving a few minutes time across a population of hundreds of millions of drivers adds up fast I’d imagine...

Not to mention one other big contributing factor in their energy equation. What about the mass of the vehicles? We’ve probably added 20% or more in mass to the average vehicle during this study. Was that figured into their statistical mess?

That’s not Bernie Mac, but he’s in Bernie’s chair...

I moved to Atlanta last year. The variable speed limits are a joke. If the sign is working (which is a rare occurrence) the speed limit is 65mph unless it’s pointless because you are sitting in traffic going the speed of the car in front of you.

The other highways are a confusing mess. Neglecting sitting in traffic

Civic Si is probably at the top of my personal list... Then maybe an STI or Evo? Followed by any old Acura or Lexus car. Some muscle cars, a luxury turbo sedan or two, and a maybe a Genesis thrown in there too.

Just wait until the autopilot veers the car steeply to the side and jumps over a guard rail into oncoming traffic...

I’m from Georgia and my first thought when I looked at the article picture was “that’s Georgia, not Missouri” and then looked at this map and facepalmed as I realized the bit at the bottom goes up for GA and down for Missouri (whose abbreviation I’ll never remember because there are too many M states).

I’m hoping advances in ceramic materials make it so the rotor and the housing can be made of non-metallic elements that don’t conduct so much heat, have a lower thermal expansion, and don’t have as much wear.

A ceramic Wankel would be awesome.

This is an interesting question... There aren’t any rods to break. The engine doesn’t produce that much torque. My guess is that the engine would suck the water in, and stall trying to compress it. I would also think if it did do damage, it would blow out the apex or side seals before it broke the drive shaft. It

I’m Atlanta based and security usually isn’t too bad. Realistically, I don’t care much about the time but I’d really love to leave my laptop in my backpack and not have to take off my shoes.

Ohio does not. Not being allowed to advertise “liquor” seems to be a southern thing. Ohio is actually pretty good about not having stupid alcohol laws.

I am finally going in to get my Pre-Check tomorrow. I figure the government already has all my info from getting my TWIC, so what the hell. I’m flying enough now to justify it.

Right, but for someone moving into the state, it’s a big “welcome to Georgia, give us 3 grand even though you already paid sales tax on your vehicle where you bought it” tax. Well, there goes my entire relocation bonus...
