Looking at GitHub during 2017:

Honestly, in the eyes of a developer the Microsoft of the last few years has been awesome. They have truly tried to be Good to innovators and have helped produce a lot of great, non-proprietary stuff. (VS Code is possibly one of the greatest tools created in the last decade).
