Fair enough. But another stock market “correction” could very quickly do to Tesla what the last recession did to Harley Davidson and Winnebago etc. Luxury goods are not the backbone of the economy, and their success is only possible when the fundamentals are strong.

I’m sure, but that doesn’t make it not true.

It’s not lazy, it’s strategery. Why duplicate efforts? One of the main things we need for this whole thing to work is a standard connection and charging network.

That’s my secret conspiracy theory as well. They can then put the tech into Lexus and Prius models, and the Tesla supercharger network will becomes The Standard, and then they can begin allowing other manufacturers to use the same connections (for a price, of course).

Yeah, that’s why I wrote “afford” and not own.

But if I’m Toyota, I sit back on a pile of actual cash money and wait for the right time to license or buy the electric and autonomous tech from some nerd who’s already taken all the risk.

Range anxiety and recharge times.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Toyota snag Tesla Motors if/when it finally hits the fan.

Soon-to-be millionaires, then.

I would star this more than once if possible. If you are buying an $80K car, you are either rich or mismanaging your money. No domestic consumer needs an $80K car. It is a luxury.

Range anxiety and recharge times.

1st Gear: What The Hell Happened, Toyota?

1st and Neutral:

Pretty sure Toyota said multiple times previously that they didn’t want to invest into Li-Ion fully electric vehicles until they were safer, more energy dense, and lighter. Until then they were content with NiMH hybrids. I remember the Prius was going to switch to lithium ion a few years ago, did it ever switch?

Dateline: late June 2009, Milwaukee. I had just gone back to MKE to bury my Dad and, prior to flying home, I grabbed some of his high-value stuff (mostly sentimental) before some of the jackals in my family picked it clean. Nested in a jewelry box were his old USAF aviator wings, rank, medals, et al. The largest one

At least they’re trying to entertain us with their security theater now. If only it actually made us safer for all the bullshit we have to go through.

those monkey-fighting snakes on your Monday to Friday planes

I believe once a car is rolled it’s a total anyway, or am I mistaken?
