Agreed. As of a few years ago your best bet was to go through the dealer's internet department, or if possible their Fleet Sales dept.

Except that's not the case. You don't have to 'break' a horse to teach it to work. People generally abuse other entities when they don't care to take the time to learn about it. It's like standing on a breaker bar vs using a torque wrench, both tighten the nut, just one has an asshole standing on the end.
