Still top end hardware, with CM (so you get L about a day or two after AOSP hits), for the price of a middling mid range phone?

Since the phone is running on CM, about a month or so at most (to be honest, it'd be literally days) after the L hits the AOSP source repositories. That's the beauty of the CM, you can go as bleeding edge as you want.

Seriously, an outboard amp weighs like 3oz if that (E11 from FiiO for example:http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-E11-Porta…) and have some sort of mild EQ/tuning options available. The problem is that it is another gadget you carry in your pocket, however.
Oh sure, blame the Taco Night. It's always the Taco Night's fault!
