Also, don't forget to re-enable your Trim settings on your SSD if you're using not Apple branded SSDs. The new update will un-enable Trim if it was enabled prior.

I have real issues with cable covers used by Apple in their products. Invariably, the real deal will eventually fail spectacularly like yours.
