Yup the hashtag is cracking me up.

We want 100% representation and we want it now! #Whitemanmarchprotestsigns.

Yup Jourdan you should be really grateful that you've been invited to the party. Eye roll.

Lol. What's wrong in saying she's just British? We know she's black.

You know I hate the headband too. I don't see the point of it. She's also wearing too much jewellery. Anyways, the colour and style of the dress is lovely and she looks beautiful.

I agree with you absolutely. It's seldom that we see a dark skinned black woman being celebrated. So I totally understand. She's just everywhere though. I guess it's too much of a good thing on my part.

Really?! I knew exactly that Lupita was going to be talking about, black women and racist euro centric beauty standards - the lighter and more white you look the more desirable you are. Lupita like so many dark skinned black women does not fit into that standard. But hey I'm black woman so maybe that's why I knew

I used to read him too back in the day. I'm not ashamed though. I just didn't know any better. Now that I do I make better choices when it comes to my daily round of gossip.

Your point is?

Whoa! There is a lot of anger in this post, all of it misdirected at me and Mia Farrow. I'm going to leave it at that.

Wow just wow! You are willing to discredit an adult woman's account of childhood sexual abuse because you believe that her mother is vindictive? That's sad.

Actually the timeline is that Mia found the pornographic photos of her young daughter eight months prior to Dylan's allegations against her father. If Mia is such a vindictive cow why didn't she coach Dylan when she discovered the photos and the affair? I think eight months is quite a long time to wait to implant a

Well, I'm bored of her. Also tired of black people fetisishing her too. So many comments on the black blogs sphere and twitter has focused on her skin. All this focus on Lupita's skin has made me queasy. As Dodai said she is more than her skin. However, this is all so many people want to celebrate. As other posters

"Allies need to do a lot less talking and a lot more listening when they're interacting with the people they claim to be allies to."

I'm all for evening out the skin tone, particularly on the face. People of colour do suffer from hyperpigmentation which can lead to unsightly dark marks. However, this goes beyond wanting to even out your skin tone. This is about being lighter.

I have to agree. As a black woman it's not my job to educate anyone on racism/ white supremacy or white privilege. I'm not your race educator. If you do not belong to a marginalised group you have no idea how tiring it can be to educate people on why things can be or are oppressive.

Thank you! This reminds me of the Jimmy Saville case here in the UK where a rich and famous celebrity got away with sexually abusing children for decades. People knew or suspected he was a paedophile but choose to look the other way.

I saw this on twitter. I agree with you 100%. White people have never respected black bodies. I wouldn't wish losing their job on anyone but in this case I'm pleased she got fired.

I agree with your last point re the 'pounds of weave' many white women, not just celebrities and models, wear weaves, hair extensions, wigs and hairpieces. There is this myth that it's only black women that do this. It's not true.

If you give people enough rope they will hang themselves.
