Sorry. If I want to reclaim a slur (s) that has has been directed at me I have the right. That goes for the N word and bitch. I am black and I am a woman. And these are my words to reclaim if I choose.

To be honest when I read your post I thought you were being serious.

When are people gonna learn if you are not black you do not use this word. As already been mentioned this word has been used to dehumanize and bittle black people. This word is still used to oppresses us. It has not lost it's sting and it's the worst thing you could say to a black person. There is no coming back from

I used to live with this British girl with a traditional Irish first name and before she moved in one of the other housemates, white, thought she must be foreign ( meaning not white) and wasn't happy about it. He was surprised when she turned out to be white.

The question "where are you from?" really gets on my nerves. What it really means is why are you not white? As I black Brit, I would get this quite often. Actually the last time a white Brit asked me that was a few months ago. I felt like saying what you really asking me is you're not white so you must be from

Whoa! Quit with the tone policing. I couldn't get through the first paragraph. So am going to call it a day.

Agree. Racism is a live and well in the UK. After all , the British Empire was built on white supremacy. Racism in the UK just manifest itself differently to the US.

Whoa! I'm not angry and saying so smacks of tone policing. I just don't take too kindly to people fetishizing me and treating me like some object because of my race.

Obviously you missed the point entirely. I was not attacking your blackness. I was commenting on your indifference. This is not going to go any where so I leave you with this: http://fucknofetishization.tumblr.com/. Maybe you will think differently.

No. Not all opinions are valid particularly if those opinions support racism and the racial fetishisation of black women.

Oh it's so hard been white. GTFOH!

Because they are racist!

Still going on about the white guy and his feelings? Don't give a shit. This is the last post from me to you on this.

You don't care if he is a racist! Well bully for you. I don't really care about your white opinions.

Thanks for comparing me to an animal.

As far as I am aware there has not been a history of racially fetishizing white men nor have white men been seen as being a monolith group. However, black women and other women of colour have been fetishized for years.

Just because you do not think its racist or demeaning doesn't mean that it is not. It's racist because he’s lumping black women together and thinking we are all the same and interchangeable

There is more to being middle class than having a posh accent and been raised in a nice leafy suburb. I too have a working class accent and grew up on a council estate.
