By appearing on a few magazine covers in synch with a movie launch? That she also exec produced? Nah. This is all pretty standard.

What’s different is that she made an awesome, timely, inspiring speech in the midst of it, which turned everything up to 11.

Oprah is great, but anyone who has promoted the amount of unscientific woo she has is not suitable for the Oval Office. (Obviously this includes the current global warming denialist/anti-vaxxer in chief, but that probably should go without saying at this point.)

She has a movie coming out in March—A Wrinkle in Time.

Good, now let’s drop this idea. We need people with political experience. And truthfully, my issue with Oprah is her questionable judgment. Phil, Oz, Anti-vax, The Secret, spending $40m on frivolities such as custom closets in a girl’s school and then walking away when it turns to shit.

Many American public libraries put sturdy bookbindings on magazines and put them in what we call ‘bound periodical collections.’ They can’t always be found in the online catalog so you might have to ask the librarian about them. San Francisco Public Library has everything from Ebony Jr! to On Our Backs. They aren’t

My wife teaches world cultures. In middle school. In Texas. Yes, schools are catered to parents who think they know better than teachers. Students have an... odd kind of power over their teachers. This is all true.

On the other hand, I had a Science teacher that jumped down my 5th grade throat because I pointed out the Science book was out of date and that they had recently announced new position on something. I didn’t even call her out. I just mentioned it since it was a cool new fact. (I honestly don’t remember the exact

there is no down vote option on here so I just wanted to write how much I dislike this comment

As a history teacher in high school, I think this kid’s letter is the visual representation of awesome. At nine he is coherent, asking legitimate questions and pointing out problems. The real problem is the teacher’s dismissive comment that didn’t actually say anything. The teacher is disappointed? Maybe they should

King is a child. The teacher is an adult. He did in fact pose a challenge to this educator. Some teachers are bureaucrats. Some truly are talented artists who inspire. You can either accept a challenge as an opportunity or a disappointment.

I don’t know how to do gifs and emojis. But I’ll just type blank face and leave
