How about checking the headlight switch?

I drive with my low beams on 24/7. But the reality is people just won't turn all the lights on, and DRLs are better than nothing. I'd be completely okay with cars working like motorcycles and having the lights on any time the engine is on, but that's not how they're built.

DRLs are great things at far northern latitudes where it's semi-dark throughout the winter. You can see oncoming traffic from much further away. It's worth the occasional moron who thinks his/her lights are on at night.

The An-148 (unlike most of their fleet) isn't ancient at all, having entered service only in 2009.

The cheapest A8 (3.0 TDI) and S-class (S350 Bluetec) in foreign markets both have interiors nicer than this (and roughly the same as the midrange models).

Just like it looked in the spy shots, the interior is below par for this class. It looks very plain next to either the S-class or the A8.

If every use of HP/l were replaced by HP/lb (or HP/kg or kW/kg), the world would be a better place. The metric tells you nothing useful at all.

Did you have a sudden urge to drive to the high-end mall in your metro area at any time while you were driving the truck?

I don't think you'll have to wait for the next generation. I think the V6 as base engine will be gone as soon as Ford can lower production costs on the 2.3 EB to rental-sled level.

Custom wagon built from a ute body.

Yep. I previously kind of wanted a Mini, even as I recognized that loaded versions were priced very high. With this generation I have zero interest anymore.

Every single time I see that dark red 993 I just lose my shit. There's something about that combination. I'm not even a 993 guy and it just drives me up the wall.

You see "decent fixer-upper," I see "project car of completely unknown quality." You could buy a used E55 for how much it would cost to get that eBay thing back into stock form and excellent condition.

Edit: What the hell, Kinja? I guess I have a new grievance now: "comment posted to a totally different story than I intended."

My grievance is the mouth-breathers who turn left on red (one-way to one-way) at an intersection directly outside my office, despite the giant "NO TURN ON RED" signs, which are there because a separated bike lane has the green during that part of the cycle. (A few seconds later, the light turns red for bikes and

Today I learned this is a thing. Somehow I've never seen anything like this before.

"Why didn't the semi brake?"

The Cressie and the Maxima of the same era were THE choices of in-the-know sedan buyers. When I bought my first car, a five-year-old 1987 Ford Taurus, I was very sad that I couldn't afford a Cressie or Max of similar age in reasonable condition. My buddy's dad had one and I loved riding in it.

"Dude" also has a really shitty grasp of legal concepts.

My bad — I'm out of date. The B5/5.5 shared their platform with the contemporary A4 and A6, and I assumed later Euro Passats had continued to do so. I didn't realize the Euro Passats had moved to transverse platforms.
