While I personally love hot hatches like the Veloster N, FiST, FoRS, etc, those can be awful in cities. The really stuff suspensions on those cars make them rough on beat up city streets or any daily driving. The heavy traffic and constant stop lights/stop signs limit any chances to really enjoy their performance.

Small Noses Forever. Along with big wings, fender flares and mid engine inline sixes

Imagine Ford offering a basic no-frills car for $6,000

Starting to see alot of the 2 and 4 door Broncos now and they look fantastic. All SUVs should be like that and the G-wagons...just on the lower end of the market =)

Holden Sandman, 70's shaggin wagon mixed with muscle car.

Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution.

Or we could get an M1 successor to compete with Porsche and AMG GT

That’s why I referenced the per-capita stat, but Germany also has way fewer deaths per vehicle AND vehicle mile traveled anyway.

per capita normalizes for different populations.

Edgelord billionaire continues to be an edgelord.

Good driver training too. We don’t have that. Most states don’t even have car safety inspections.

The US has 300% more vehicle deaths per capita than Germany. How does Germany do that? Not with any of that BS you wrote about. They have strict licensing requirements and good transit infrastructure.

90mph tailgating is the norm around here.

Define “should”. Should the 99% of people who don’t drive drunk be forced to blow into their car every time they need to go anywhere? Should I care if someone is too stupid to wear a seatbelt and gets themselves killed? Should we restrict everyone to exactly the same speed so there is no passing, no speed difference

Where I live speed is the killer. Then follows drunk, then follows no seatbelts. Somewhere in all of that is running stoplights and illegal lane changes.

Oh Hell No!  I don’t drink and drive at all. Zero. Given that I would HATE to have to blow a DUI device to start my car.

In before all of the slippery-slope arguments... I 100% agree. I know I would not like these solutions, but we definitely should have them and if new cars came with them I would deal. We all would. This is not an attack on your freedoms.

Asking that question unequivocally proves you are not a boomer. So, sit back and let me spin you a yarn...

I filled up my A4 Avant yesterday. $90.38. For 15-point-something gallons of gas. It was $5.899 at the pump, for 92 octane.

This is a good point. I have a diesel that gets great highway mpg and a plugin hybrid that takes premium but typically gets 80 mpg on a tank of gas for my typical uses. Guess which one I drive more now that diesel is even more expensive than premium?  Most of my trips are less than the 30 mile electric range and I get
