My boss is a pretty fearless driver (learned in Eastern Europe back in the day, then in Israel, then in New Jersey), and he came back from Italy shaken. His take: the drivers must have four hands, one to hold the cellphone, one to smoke, one to drink coffee, and one to gesticulate — and they steer with their knees.

Not sarcastic at all. I will swap out the wheels but generally I prefer the way a car looked when it left the factory. IMO, few modified cars have ever looked better than OEM.
I'm a 100% stock guy. I like to buy cars in their press color (I spent a day agnozing between silver and a more expensive one in Gunmetal Grey, the R32's famous color) and keep them looking like they did in their press photos. I will not be modifying the car.
