I like leasing new BMWs, because i can enjoy them without having to replace every single rubber/plastic part, like you would on one with more than 50-60k miles. Cars are not investments, and by leasing, you only pay for what you use.

VAG cars with more than 150hp are crap to drive with a manual. The engine mounts are too soft, and the clutch is too weak. This is from experience, i drive a 2012 mk6 Jetta GLI 6 speed. (2.0TSI)

The liquid 20k you have is better invested in something that will return a profit, not a used german car.

I disagree with this. Financing is great - you can make small monthly payments and drive a new reliable car….that's a much better investment than occupying $2x,xxx and driving an old, unreliable, german car. I am a BMW fanboy, i've owned 2 E36s, and E46, and they are NOT great used cars for someone who does not care…

The current MK6 GLI is basically the same as the 2nd gen Octavia vRS. Both are on the PQ35 platform. The mk7 GLI will be basically the same as this other than the weird trunk. Not that hard to understand.
