She was an incest victim. The book was not ambiguous about that.

I thought her father was raping her.

Clearly the one on the right. If you disagree you are WRONG WRONG WRONG

This is pretty much EXACTLY what happened to me during my parents divorce. My father was an abusive, selfish, cruel asshole who almost broke my mother’s hand (to say nothing of the years of emotional abuse. My brothers were spared that bullshit, thank god, it was just my mom & I that had to deal with it) & I refused

Yeah, that was my thought. Way, way, way too invested in this decision....

I had to stop reading. It literally made me sick to my stomach when she started in on the 9 year old.

That judge is a disgrace to her profession, logic, and humanity in general. I’m just waiting to find out she’s banging the dad.

saying the father had “jumped through hoops” to have a relationship with his children.

This is the most horrifying thing I’ve ever read. Omg. How do we get the kids out?!

I’m a family law attorney, and my office has been up in arms about this all week.

Now we’re incarcerating children because of their parents’ behavior? WTF is this world that I am living in?

Boy, it’s almost like this field is more complicated and involved than an hour’s worth of Googling can cover!

It’s “the light goes off” that does it for me. It’s such a...harsh...thing to say and definitely conjures up the image of the soul fleeing. Dealing with a severely autistic child can be incredibly difficult, but I don’t think it’s necessary to compare living children, never mind your own, to empty shells.

THIS. Autism Speaks and other groups like it have demonized autistic people so much. Parents genuinely think an autistic kid will destroy their life.

I suspect you’re being deliberately obtuse. The study is broken down into separate sections, to represent different findings.

No, the study is clear. It’s even broken down into neat sections. The bit you quoted falls under the heading “Crime Rate”. That is, the overall crime rate for transgender people, compared to controls (non trans people). The bit I quoted comes under the heading “Gender Differences.” This section compares crime rate

No. You are wrong. I never made any claims about trans people committing more crimes than non trans people, overall - which is the bit you refer to in the study. I said that trans WOMEN commit more crimes than cis WOMEN (which they do, including violent crime, including after 1989). That is what the study shows.

You say “single study” as if it’s damning. But in fact this is the only study which examines this particular issue and it is the largest of its type, as the data was pulled from the entire Swedish trans population from 1973 - 2003. It’s the best study we have.

Is there any information on housing of trans men in detention? I would assume placing a trans man in a men’s detention facility would be dangerous for him, also.

This concerns me. Convicted murder Maddison Hall was moved to a female prison before SRS surgery and was accused of raping several inmates. It was especially serious because Hall was HIV positive. Then there is the Sherri Marsbusch case, in 2012 a woman made this petition on behalf of her mother. Relevant quote:
