Americanness - probably. If someone was to pick on something. People in the world do have nasty opinions about Americans but you knew that already. Some Americans more than others. But honestly, I don’t think anything you mention will be more than a passing interest. Most of us don’t care that much about the Royals

She is only 3 years older than him. That means nothing in the UK. We don’t care about that really. She is hardly Joan Collins. I want it to happen. But now the press has it, it will go away.

Yep. Nasty. It all shut up too when Nicola Sturgeon spoke about her miscarriage. Gordon Brown lost a baby when it he was days old so it is an upsetting subject oo. Politicians should really fucking not talk about these things. I had Leadsome and old-before-time attitude. It is a tory thing.

Unfortunately, yes. But there have been incidents directed towards a lot of people mainly POC but also people from Eastern Europe too and other parts of the EU. It is all a bit haphazard and “you look foreign” kind of stupidity based hatred that has ALWAYS been a problem here in a country of over 80% white people.

I think that the royals have in the past made worst choices in love and Meghan looks the part entirely. eg. Princess Margaret and Prince Andrew and Princess Anne. If they are dating, good. If not - well, more grist to the mill. The second child doesn’t count in public feeling. They tend to do their own thing

Probably not as much as people overseas think. No doubt some will but they would be stupid racists. Britain has more than 10% POC as citizens. it would reflect today. Many of our key politicians are non-white or have non-white spouses. Boris Johnson and Jeremy Hunt being two with such spouses.

No. Nobody would care really. Royals have married divorcees and/or North Americans before. Royal houses and aristocratic families of Europe have non-white members these days too. This sort of “American divorcee” stuff is Daily Mail fodder really. They would write articles but that is about it. She is beautiful

In the UK, on Strictly Come Dancing, we get Ed Balls (who was a politician in government). And that is his real name.

I agree with you. It is the same where I live. The image I was using was more from films where seeing a therapist is plot point. It is not something poor people or those in need tend to do, unless they have help or a lot of resources (from a charity for example). This very rare isolated cases.  I am a working class

I agree. But I was talking more about cultural availability and resources rather than willingness. AAs in the UK is a volunteer charity organisations who don’t charge or get much money to help people. They are very helpful for those who can choose to attend. But for some, that is a secondary or tertiary step AFTER

Agreed. Also, there is also a great class divide. People find quiet offices full of people with MAs and nicely chosen art to be very intimidating. So “that kind of therapist” is not for everyone. No doubt people do pro bono work and do very well but there is a divide. Or there is from my experience.

Meaning, it’s a fairly obvious argument that those in therapy perhaps have fewer mental health issues than the average person.

Exactly. I also wonder about that “we are all in therapy” ideal I found in a lot of rich west coast people when I lived in the US (from Scotland). Because it is usually hella expensive and I honestly only those with means can afford it. And look of puzzlement when I say “i can’t afford $200 an hour to tell someone

I always thought House of Cards would be equally potent if Claire was a mother of daughter and she had no connection to her. It would be interesting dramatically. Though the actual story is probably more original and raises more questions.

I meant GENTEEL not gentile - lol spellchecker.

I can do that too. I don’t find them scary when they are about the paranormal because I don’t believe in anything like that in life. To me that is just thrilling stories. Things that scare me more are REAL threats like Silence of the Lambs - men to wait in car parks for women. Or things like stories about people

I never really understood the “selfish” line. Because I choose not to have kids because of a very real health issue, that could leave me much worse off and in severe need of help if I had kids. Women with my condition still die today in places with less medical care. I would be more selfish if I had a kid, knew I

Louis Theroux has done a film about it (i have yet to see) but I like Louis lots. He is usually very gentile and fair minded. I don’t know how the church will react to that kind of thing but Tom Cruise recently said on the red carpet here that his religion inspired him or something. Day or so after the film’s

It was a joke. Called snark.
