It's like his face is a black hole, the gravity is inescapable.

Japan and Germany weren't exactly 'first world' when the bases were created.
I don't disagree with your general premise but perhaps you should not have used a more than 100 year old example.
Also he has RSF.
Not true. The military generally will allow local courts to try servicemembers for major crimes if it is possible for them to get a fair trial in the local justice system. Many examples of this in European countries, Australia, Japan, and Israel.
Oh come on. Not true in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Japan, or any number of other countries.
Er, no, they don't. One war doesn't make it a "long brutal history", particularly when the Philippines are islands of constant warring colonization. Filipinos (with the exception of some in the small Muslim population) have a very unusual love and respect for America that borders on the obsessive: http://www.globescan.…
You know what I'm really sick of? Every post that I see that lumps "wealthy" and "white" women together. Has no one ever considered the fact that not all white women are wealthy? I have breaking news: not all white women are wealthy. Therefore not all white women can avoid living in "a culture of poverty and…
Yeah, that's how I feel too. Honestly, I think feminism is so misunderstood and gets so much undeserved backlash that any positive mention is welcome. We need to stop policing each other's discourse so much and just embrace the fact that there's one more person who is willing to explain that we're not angry…
I'm still learning about feminism (does that ever end? I doubt it) Yet I feel so much less inclined to join the conversation for fear of being ridiculed and shouted back into silence because I'm not exactly where others are in their own journey of understanding and knowledge. Sometimes the message seems to be Your…
Oh, do tell how Beyonce is a "diverse feminist messenger." She's just as rich and out of touch as any other celebrity.
Absolutely. When I was 17, back in the dark ages, being "feminist" didn't mean (in the mainstream vernacular) women = men = people. It meant hating all men. Of course, I evolved from that, but, good god, give the gal a break. She's seven fuckin' teen. Hating on her is tantamount to bullying.
Can we just agree that at this point any mention in defense of feminism is positive and worthwhile? Can we just stop being nitpicky about the whole thing? It just doesn't do anyone any favors.
And I quote from Maisie Williams's twitter this morning:
To be fair, its Game of Thrones. Horrible shit happens to literally everyone. White, black, tall, short, man, woman, dire wolf. The entire premise of the show is "everything sucks for everyone all the time and only bad things happen"
Seriously? Why are we pretending to like this video? The standard for male submission as spectacle in a pop video remains Trent Reznor in the video for "Closer."
Wake up, Fayetteville. 14,000 votes? You let just over 7000 people in a city of near 80,000 decide for the rest of y'all. If you find this appalling, do something about it. Duggar doesn't even live in your city, why does she get to run it?
I hope we get another one. DC's animated shows are always top of the line. And on the bright side, now that Stu Snyder is gone I'm hoping that we're going to see much more animated shows in the future.
The arc of history bends towards justice, or so we say. Yet, every so often, we totally lose ground to reactionary,…
