Where are the statistics for your claims? Your personal story and that article you can't seem to remember that we'll don't count.

This isn't about. American imperialism.

Yep, we need more poc behind the scenes if we want to be seen. I'm tired of seeing jlo and Eva Longoria as representatives of Latina women. They're OK but I feel like they only embrace their Latina heritage when it's advantageous to them.

Jason momoa

That pic is from 2006/2007, I believe. She was so pretty back then. Idk why she felt she had to get so much work done.

When Pink changes her name to Pink Ruiz or Madonna to Madonna de la Cruz as a way to make their image more exotic, then I might see your point. Until then, I don't really see the similarities. Are you some Ldr fanatic that can't stand the thought that some people might not like her? Even without her manufactured

Yea, I don't really agree with this. Just because you adopt a name doesn't mean it's roots are insignificant; that's reductionist thinking, imo. There's obviously a reason that the name was chosen and more likely than not it was due to its roots. Del Rey is obviously Spanish, so I don't understand how that fact can be

What do you mean "Del Rey" is not a Hispanic name? It definitely is a surname that originates from Spain, which means that there are latin@s who have it as a surname.

This ^^

As a Latina woman myself, I totally agree. But, like I mentioned in another thread, I can't help but be annoyed at her manufactured schtick. Her real name is Elizabeth Grant, and then she picks Lana Del Rey as her stage name because it sounds 'exotic'. I don't identify with chola culture, but this whole thing just

I should add: "I knew I wanted a name that sounded sort of exotic and reminded me of the seaside of the Florida coast. 'Lana Del Rey' sounded beautiful."

Sure.

I know.

So... I have to like every artist now? Shit, my bad. There are other reasons I don't like her besides her career choices. I didn't think I had to list them all to state my opinion. Oops.

"Lana Del Rey came from a series of managers and lawyers over the last 5 years who wanted a name that they thought better fit the sound of the music."

That's not how it works, but thanks for playing!!! Mra trolls are the best.

Man explaining how sexism works to women. Thanks for clearing that up for us females.
