“BTW, you could get a suburban with a 6.0 or 8.1 with those numbers. Not to mention Mercedes, BMW and porsche were pretty much there 20 years ago on the smaller ‘performance’ SUVs”

There were three row SUVs in 1999 with 355 horsepower?

It appears to be a new platform that the Pilot may then move to when it’s updated, but this does not appear to be a reskinned Pilot in any sense.

We can already build 6 lane tunnels though. What’s the innovation, that only Tesla owners get to use them?

The “autonomous” part is pretty meaningless in a tube with only one way to go. That’s like saying a roller coaster is really profound because it’s “automated” to go around on the track.

What is special is how Tesla/The Boring Company is working to drastically reduce the time and money it takes to build the tunnels.

It’s Elon. Teslas in Tunnels is probably super profound because it spells TITs.

Because it’s the D.C. Metro, only it goes nowhere useful and you brought your own train.  Nothing involved here except for the car itself is remotely revolutionary, and I can take that out of the picture by riding through on a bicycle.

If Mr Musk REALLY wanted to make these tunnels cool he’d line them with LED screens programmed to show videos as if you were driving through a Jurassic savannah or perhaps across the surface of Mars, even better, this:

Excuse me if I’m wrong, but I thought the entire point of driving a car in a tunnel was to rev the engine and see how much noise you could make. Using an electric car if kind of self-defeating.

He also tweeted and deleted this:

I once met a self described genius like this, when I pointed out basic flaws in his inventions/schemes, he got pretty dismissive and yup wandered to the next one.
Or they were compound schemes, and I just didn’t get the whole picture yet.

They realized that the first idea was completely impractical (as others who came up with the same idea going all the way back to the early 1900's did), and now they’re trying to make it something they can actually build, even if it has no actual benefit over what we already have. Well, assuming you don’t count the

What problem is this underground tunnel idea supposed to solve?

I pointed out previously the charade that is the Boring Company. All they’ve done is to buy a small used tunnel boring machine and dig a tunnel that is too small to be useful or safe. The tunnels that they’ve dug don’t have a walkway, emergency exits, fire protection, ventilation to handle smoke during a fire, etc.

You ever meet someone who thinks their every thought is gold, GOLD I TELL YOU? Then, when it isn’t they somehow pivot it into some other idea that is gold, the train repeats until eventually something trivial comes of it and they claim success.

Tesla’s PR department:

I’ve had to cancel Amazon music unlimited a dozen times in the past couple years because my kids ask Alexa to play a song and they sign up for it.

“...And Tesla’s Handling This All Wrong”

I have talked to Mothers who needed to cancel orders from Amazon because the kid had her phone and wanted Paw Patrol stuff and something we sell was in her shopping cart. Happens
