Well, I just finished off the last batch of vanilla ice cream I made, I guess it’s time to make some more!
I appreciate that, though I will admit that part of the reason is also that there is only one W/D unit down there, even though there was supposed to be two, and it happens to be the one connected to the other units’ gas and electric. If they’re gracious enough to let me use it, the least I can do is try and avoid…
I don’t have a smart washer dryer, but my W/D are in the basement, shared with the upstairs unit. So in an effort to get laundry done as quickly as possible, I try to empty machines as soon as they’re done. I have mistimed it many times, on the early side, to the effect of sitting there waiting for the final cycle to…
The blue tooth on my immersion circulator reaches just far enough that I can connect to it from my bedroom or living room. That said, the only real reason to connect to it is if you need to change the temperature, or to make sure it’s still at temp.
The crazy thing is the SOS ordered there only be one box per county, and a judge ruled it was arbitrary and unreasonable, but since he didn’t actually block him from enforcing his order, we’re still at one. If you’re curious, there’s a nice summation of the partisan hackery here.
Kudos to you! Like you, I was very fortunate. Not only that I did not really need the stimulus, I was paid while my job was shut down for 10 weeks, but also that when we returned part time, we were enrolled in a layoff aversion program that allowed us to collect unemployment on top of our partial salary, including the…
Chef Andres was already a legend, if only for his contributions to the culinary world, but his charitable works make him a hero. He deserves every award he is eligible for. Also, if you get a chance, go through his twitter feed and watch the video series “recipes for the people” he made with his daughters. Even with…
I was so confused by your comment until I finished it. I was amazed at the thought that, a) a place that specializes in roast beef sandwiches would be open for breakfast, and, b) I had never heard about it. It’s too early, and I really don’t want to be at work right now.
I think that’s what accounts for the longer wait times I’ve noticed, but it’s worth it to get food that is freshly fried.
I feel like I also trust Arby’s to cook those properly more than I do McDonald’s. I’d say the odds of me getting a proper hash brown from them is about 50/50. Getting a soggy, barely warm hash brown is a quick way to ruin my morning, especially when I don’t have time to ask them to correct it on my way to work.
Hmmm, I have one basically right around the corner from my house. I kinds of wish you hadn’t told me this, but I also love you for doing so.
Shoestring fries are great, but you basically have to be eating them within 30 seconds of them being cooked or they go ice cold. SnS hasn’t seemed to figure that out, but then again, I wouldn’t expect any fast food place to get that right.
Never tried ‘em. Might have to do it next time! I know they’re localized to the midwest, but Steak ‘n Shake has solid onion rings, too. Way better than the shoestring fries which are cold before you even get them.
I’m not gonna shit on Arby’s meats, I’m generally indifferent to it. But their mozzarella sticks are amazing, and I will occasionally go there solely because I want those.
The only positive coming from Cleveland.com these days is that they closed the comment section. Sadly, another institution down the drain...
As a Cleveland resident, and someone that is familiar with Cleveland.com, the word “journalists” is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
I can’t attest to it happening, since I typically avoided the comments unless I was trying to see if someone had already asked about particular alterations (if I still needed clarification, I’d usually reach out to someone on Twitter), but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a cesspool, just like everywhere else where…
She was definitely a huge asset there. It’s been intimated that she was not treated so kindly by commenters, and not necessarily defended by the higher ups. Shortly after she left, in a since deleted tweet (and twitter account), she said “One day women of color won’t have to choose between tolerating discrimination or…
The worst part about Sohla leaving BA (obviously aside from her apparently terrible treatment at the hands of commenters at Serious Eats, and now the management at BA) is that she was a great chef, and more importantly, an AMAZING teacher. She was always so great at describing what she was doing and why she was doing…
