Generally I’d agree, but it seems like the letter writer has made excuses to the effect of being busy in the past, yet still gets pestered. If this is the case, it’s time to ditch the excuses and just express a disinterest in being invited further.

“I’m sorry, I came to the first one to see what it was all about, but this really isn’t something that I’m interested in.”

Another option would be right in your wheelhouse. Daniel Gritzer over at Serious Eats (and I’m sure some other people as well) wrote an article about making sous vide duck confit, and I’m sure it would translate just as well to turkey. Double bonus, you can make some sides ahead of time and bring them back to/hold

A friend of mine has a party each summer where everyone is welcome to enter the dip contest. This year’s winner was a thanksgiving themed dip, essentially gravy with other complementary thanksgiving sides, with slices of dinner rolls for a chip. As the runner up, I was not happy about it, but it was pretty good!

That is excellent to hear!

Let’s face it, if it’s a fancy restaurant, the type you actually make reservations for in advance, not call up 20 minutes before hand to see if there’s a table, you’re probably gonna want to check that box. Those places can make it one of the great experiences of your life by paying extra attention to what’s going on,

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and Sens. Sanders, Warren and Gillibrand have recently (within the last year) endorsed the idea of re-introducing postal banking. I don’t think a resolution was ever introduced, however. It still allows those who don’t trust banks, or the government in this case, to slip through the cracks and go

What always kills me with the self-checkout at the grocery store is that I’m trying to do it fast, so I’m scanning with one hand while grabbing the next item with the other and passing it over to the first hand and so on. When I’m at the ones designed for full grocery trips (with the longer conveyor belt) I have to

As a general rule (though by no means foolproof) I either cut the time by 25% or the temperature by 20-30 degrees when using the convection feature. It’s not perfect, but like anything else in a regular oven, it takes some trial and error to find the best time/temp combo.

In a day in age where one can buy toaster ovens with convection, air fryers are a waste of money.

White cranberry juice. Apparently they just get harvested before they turn red. Still ripe, they just haven’t had the color drawn out by the sun yet (they are usually shielded by the upper layers of cranberries).

Somewhere around 10 years ago they opened up an IHOP in my area. After a night of imbibing, a group of about 15 of us went down for some breakfast. The place was fairly busy, and because they had only recently opened, they weren’t quite where they needed to be staffing wise, seemingly ill-trained as well as ill-prepare

I just learned to accept the fact that I don’t love the taste of coffee itself (and adding cream or sugar doesn’t seem to help a ton). Like, I’m fine drinking it, but I’d much rather just have a coke, even though it’s a million times worse for me. If I need a quick pick me up, though, I’ve come to be able to drink it

Wonderful.

Now that you say that, I’m trying to pinpoint when I really started to follow him as a writer, but I just can’t. I believe this article came out a couple of years after I started reading his material, so it simply dropped into my RSS feed one day, along with anything else from the night before. Definitely a great food

Oh, there’s definitely good ways to keep the bread from going stale before you can eat it. I suppose when I said “always” it was a bit hyperbolic. I didn’t mean every time I get fresh bread, I simply meant if you combine all instances where I’ve left it in the original paper bag without getting to finish it, I’ve

There’s a small chain in Northeastern Ohio (Harry Buffalo) that carries bison burgers, for a $4 up charge over beef. I’ve had it a few times, but considering that all the burgers are slathered in sauces and other toppings, the flavor of the meat can easily get lost so it’s not worth it unless you’re getting something

Hiring seniors is a way to keep labor costs low

That’s not something I’ve ever encountered with bread being left out. When left in plastic, absolutely, the moisture retained has always led to mold. But in an environment where moisture is able to evaporate, say a loaf in the paper bag from the bakery, I’ve always had to throw it out from it turning rock solid before
