But Tech/Dev-Unions don’t always have to be about fighting, it brings all sorts of benefits to groups of workers and allows a wider reach for peoples voices too

I mean, that’s the default for capitalism. As a system it’s intentionally antagonistic between the worker class and the capitalist class. NOT joining a union and simply “trust me bro”-ing your enemies never works out.

This is Australia, so the formation of a union may not be motivated by anything other than well-supported caution. We’ve seen it time and again.
