That’s the most condescending thing I’ve read in a couple days. And I read Deadspin almost every day!
Good for you!

I hope to god you posted to me by accident...because I am not sure how this relates to any of the points I’ve made.
Why is a NYC voter less able to make decisions about things in AZ than a voter in Iowa?
Why is one person, one vote unfair?
On what logical grounds to make this assertion?
So it doesn’t matter whether the candidates actually go to the states?
So, then, I guess I’m missing the grounds for your “bottom line”. The means here are the rule of law.
Thanks. Hey, do you know what color the sky is? I was hoping someone could be patronizing and answer that question for me, too.
Your condescending comment does more to prove my point, than discredit it, btw
We already changed the sacred Founders will on this point, and who’s even allowed to vote. So, why do we rely on…
I’m advocating for the EC to go away.
What is illegal about what Surpan proposes?
And the end result is we scrap the EC, because EVERYONE hates it. Sounds good to me!
President is the ONLY elected office that is not directly elected. That’s not weird to you?
No one won anything yet. That’s how the Electoral College - the rules - work.
The rules of the game allow electors to vote for whomever they want. But since you like Trump, you’re willing to disregard the rules ....blah blah balh
The rules of the election INCLUDE electors being allowed to vote for whomever they want in many states.
You can’t appeal to the rules...but, you know, only the ones you like.
Either you want the EC to function according to the rules or you don’t. Which is it?
Check out Federalist 63. Then get back to us.
How many campaign stops did Trump and Clinton have in Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota...even with the EC.
Your point SEEMS like a good one, until you start to look at reality.
Cool. Is Texas one of those states? What’s that...no? So, then the comment your responding to was correct, and you’re more worried about being the most annoying kind of wrong: *technically* correct.
This is wrong, too. The only vote that matters is the vote of the Electoral College - the members of which are not legally bound to vote in a certain way.
If you want the EC, you get ALL of the EC. You don’t get to pick and choose the parts of the EC that are going to be applied, and which are not.
“The Popular Vote doesn’t fucking matter, and hasn’t since the founding fathers were alive.”
You don’t get to cry “this is what the Founders wanted”, and with your next breath criticize someone for doing what the Founders intended as a possibility.
