Could have been worse. The RX792P was notorious for having its bodywork catch fire on its exhaust. The 77 car here actually did just that in practice for Sebring in 1992, forcing them to withdraw from teh race.

I believe that was on purpose. The Soviet experience in WW2 drilled in the the fact that reliability, ease of operation, and a high rate of fire was more important than accuracy.
