Everyone said it was DOA back in 2019. Turns out everyone was right.

This^^ The Challenger and Charger have NEVER been majorly redesigned. Who wants to buy a 15 year old car for NEW car money? The Hellcat/Demon engined cars are the only appealing thing they have anymore and they are way too expensive for most people to buy. I won’t miss them if they go. They have a lot of American…
1st: Would anyone really miss Fiat? It would be a shame for Chrysler to go away, considering how good the Pacifica is. Dodge is definitely heading towards death, you can’t just hellcat everything and offer nothing else that people want. Bring over Citroen and Peugeot!
Hmmm. My CJ5 apparently has the worst roll over risk of just about any vehicle: https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1981/01/02/insurance-study-labels-jeep-cj5-dangerous/3e0950ef-c8aa-45c7-b6c4-0917206d54a4/
For virtually all people I’ve seen who’ve had this service done on TMC etc., it is free.
All cars do model years, including new. It’s required by law.
What they are currently doing is there is a software update to reduce the wear (which was unnecessary in the first place, a lot of it was worthless OS logging they didn’t use anyways), plus for ones that failed, they are replacing the 8GB eMMC with a 64GB eMMC (which would extend the existing expected life under…
I think it is both. They are replacing the eMMC with a larger device, which will extend lifetime. Some time back they turned off debug logging, which was probably the cause of the miscalculation of life of the units.
RichRebuilds is a fun channel; he has done Tesla a lot of favors by showing that they are servicable (though parts are still a pain). His projects have included rebuilding salvage Model Ss, building a EV ratrod, building a EV ATV, rebuilding a BMW i8, etc. The v8 into a Model S fits well with his sarcastic wit.
I’ll give you that, certainly not trying to downplay what was accomplished in terms of technical challenge
I don’t get everyone on here hating on it. They took DEAD Teslas. It’s not like they were using perfectly good ones to start with. I think its awesome they’re doing this. It’s not for performance gains, but just for fun. Seems like the only thing they are hurting are your fragile egos.
I am surprised at all of the auto enthusiasts commenting here that have no idea who Rich is, (dude has nearly 1 million subs.) If you knew who he was, you’d get this a bit better. The dude has rebuilt more Teslas (and other EVs) that were totaled than probably anyone on the planet. Him rebuilding another Tesla back to…
All for “LS everything” but this seems silly. Point of LS is to introduce a demonic possession into something underpowered. A swapped model S would be slower, less powerful, and have worse traction.
What a reasonable take, thanks.
With just about every manufacturer obsessed with coining a corporate face and striving for predictable, tedious design consistency across their entire fleet, I can’t overstate how refreshing it is to see Hyundai forge this path of making wildly unique cars.
This is true, I’ve driven a V12 Maybach and it is by far the best thing to drive or be driven in, but it’s $200K New and $130K at 3 years old and then you have to be concerned about a catastrophic failure after warrantee. A base S class is still $100K and is still the best thing in the world, but a 70K Tesla S is good…
