I followed the link to the original article, and it specifies that the thieves were, in fact, boys. As far as I know, “tweens” is a gender-neutral term.

My sympathy goes to the driver of the Maxima (yes, it’s a Maxima - you can read the badge on the trunk in some parts of the video). Reacting when someone swerves into you is no cup of tea, and the crash into the center divider would have been unavoidable - there would simply be nowhere else to go.

Um...that’s not an Amtrak train. It’s not even a passenger train. Amtrak trains generally say Amtrak somewhere on them. Just FYI.
