From what I can gather from Mass Effect fans, Mass Effect 1 was kinda like if Rachel Dolezal was cover shooter who tried to become president of the RPG Society. I’m glad that Abrams adhere to the “it rhymes” rule Lucas set for the Star Wars movies. In the previous 6 movies, similar shots have often been used to convey connections between the movies.

The Rebel Alliance is not secretly fascist but this shot does sort of allude to the fact that in real life, there have been many times when the rebels become the oppressors when they take over.
