I’m approaching it from the POV that if companies weren’t willing to pay people decent salaries while simultaneously expecting them to work long hours before, then that isn’t going to change with a presidential decree.
I don’t work in HR, but I do work on the HR database. The one that pays several hundred people automatically monthly if they’re exempt and bi-weekly if they’re hourly and doesn’t have a field for an employee to add their own extra hours.
You bring in your hand written notes, and they bring in your contract that says you work 8-5 with a 1 hour lunch and that adds up to 40 hours. They claim they never asked you to work overtime and you’re just trying to scam them.

It doesn’t have to be an overnight process. It could be a year down the road the company is looking to lay off a few people or promote a few people, they could easily just sort by who charged overtime and who didn’t. And those that didn’t get promoted and those that did get let go. That sends a message to employees…

A lot of people who claim to work 60 hours a week probably only do actual work a fraction of that time. Let’s say you’re a specialist in databases and can make a new database in a couple of days, but someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing can spend several weeks. Is there anything to prevent a business from lowering wages to accommodate 60 hrs of work being spread out over 2 weeks? Or even more fundamental, how will exempt employees PROVE they worked as much they claimed. I don’t qualify, but if I made a little less I would, but I would have no way to show I worked 45-50 hrs.
This is a big hubbub about nothing. Employers will forbid employees from working overtime hours, but require the same amount of work get done. If the employees can’t do the work in the limited time period they’ll be replaced.

Facebook is not a government run entity. They’re allowed to publish or not publish whatever the hell they want. They’re not suppressing Fox News by not publishing Fox News articles. They could ban any links to Fox News and still not be censoring. BECAUSE THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THE HELL THEY WANT ON THEIR OWN SITE.
So by not putting it on the trending section the right’s news was erased from the internet? Or was it still freely available to anyone who cared to look for it?
