I think the salt comes in handy there - I was always told that if I had a sore throat or a cut/scratch in my mouth to gargle with some salt added to warm water - I never really questioned it but perhaps it's to help kill bacteria? Idk but it sorta works or at least seems to help the scrapes/cuts heal faster.
