The only complication I had was that the testical side of the vas deferens was very swollen for a lot longer than expected for 6-9 months. They weren’t painful to the touch but definitely to pressure. It wasn’t a major burden but I just needed to be more careful when I sat down.

It’s possible blocking the number might block only the underlying sender and not your own, but there are so many variables between phones, providers, and OS versions that it’s hard to say. Worst case, you’d just have to delete the spam messages manually.
A point of clarity, spoofed e-mails/texts do not come from the account in the from line. They are altered to appear that way.
I don’t know if you can report it without consequences, but you might have an option to just block the number. It may block the actual number/email that sent the text, it might block your own. However, since you’re likely to not text yourself, it’s probably OK either way.
