I keep powdered milk in my home. I don't drink milk, I don't eat cereal for breakfast, and it's a lot more convenient to use in a recipe than running to the store and buying a small container when I need, or getting a bigger one and tossing half of it.

Oh man, I had this idea years ago when I took a (futile) stab at fiction writing, but using photosensitive polymers that contracted when exposed to light. I should have patented it :(
