Damn. I can recall many times when I was left at home by myself at 9 years old because both my parents were working and couldn’t find child care. In fact I recall being forced to stay at home during a teacher’s strike that lasted something like 6 weeks when I was in the 4th grade. 

What they meant is everybody has equal rights, not that one basketball player or musician or scientist is better than the other. That’s self evident.
