Hey ho! Hailing from Montreal! Gawker media is an interesting mix because people come from all over this lil'planet to chat and chase away boredom. I lurk more than I comment because of the nature (and really the amount of my) work. Hoping that 2013 allows me to comment more (and not because I'll be able to submit to

WOW! You have just *made* my day! I've been having a rather crappy 2012 and 2013 ushered with me losing my keys (with both my flash drives) and lots of work that I didn't back up because "oh, I have time!" Bookmarking this new site ASAP!

You used the word "crikey," so I'm thinking you may not be American? If so, keep in mind that women taking their husband's name is a cultural norm here. I'm from Montreal where we do not do such thing and when my (American) mother-in-law saw my social security card with my maiden name on it, she made me go back using

Thanks, I think you just gave me an idea...

Like you, I stopped using apps for my To-Dos (I used to pay for Remember The Milk, really?). I don't use a white board though I bought one (it's currently in my office closet waiting for a friend to stop by and help me hang it). I use a giant Post-It newsprint.

I definitely see how this could be useful. Not only can you write notes but you can mark a spot and record the lecture, whe clicking on the mark it plays back exactly what was said at that moment!

Maybe that's the key. I'm trying so hard to get a gadget that would help but it may be more useful to people attending a presentation than to those delivering it.

I really like their website and it's what sold me on it but it seems it's better suited to someone attending a presentation than giving one as Saidear has replied.

I have been seriously considering getting this device for about a year. I held off and got an iPad 3 for my birthday (thanks, lil'bro!) I wish I could say the iPad is all I need but I have a hard time doing everything I need to do like: updating posts on my intranet course site, adding pictures to my site is not

Can anyone explain to me why the colors are neon? And if those are "real" colors? By that I mean not in reaction to light?

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Between yours and hoozatz's answer, I'm hoping to work something good for my students. Cheers!

Sorry I'm replying late, but started the semester this week! Thank you so much for the tip. I will try it next weekend. I'm thinking of using these together with handouts so that I don't have "just" readings but a number of different ways for students to process information.

I wonder if someone could help me. I just discovered audiobooks and would like to edit snippets to use in the classroom (posted on BlackBoard). I have an iPad 3 and a bunch of Windows laptop.

Great comment, Hazey Jane. I concur. I think often we try to keep a certain amount of illusion forgetting that true intimacy can only be achieved when people know what we like as well as what we need to get off; conversely they need to know what we do "just" for them and what we really don't like.

Wouldn't the ticks be easier to spot? Any time I found a tick on me, invariably, i was dressed. Being naked has its advantages! ;-)

Thank you! I will check my local library and try them first.

Each state has a different age for statutory rape as well as age of consent. I don't know in which state they live in but this website will tell you if you know... http://age-of-consent.findthedata.org/

Sometimes it's scary how this websites touches upon thing I've been mulling over for some time!

Now playing

Such an interesting post! Thanks for writing it. This made me remember that I really wanted to read Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor's book "My Stroke of Insight."
