@trekie86: Actually, there's no need for a lawsuit, unless they changed the law which allowed the consumer a small payment *every time* the caller called. I can't remember where I read this, but I'll take a look and post it here if I can find it.

@colormist: One cue I wish I had gotten earlier... The language in which Borlú speaks is supposed to sound foreign. The rhythm is completely off... But the author starts introducing more hints that help us realize we're reading a translation and by then we're accustomed to how they say things.

Hi Annalee! Don't know if this post is the right place for the following info or if I should have posted in #tips, but here it is. Please forgive if I'm doing in it wrong.

@colormist: Hang in there... It does get better! On Saturday, I sat my ass down after all my corrections and started reading. To help me through I divided the rest of the books in chunks! That's how silly I was acting! Going "Woohoo! 2 more chunks to go!"

The author created a new country with new rules, so it's not historical, and it's definitely not regular fiction as this world is so far from our reality... OK, so it's not really the darkest of dystopia but life does seem a little bit "Brave…
