@ThatGirlCrystal: Oh that's a fantastic idea! I have had my bathroom redone and the old cabinet does not have a purpose right now, but you just gave me an idea!
OK, to those who think that this list is a bit too much, etc. Let me tell you, some of us are constantly hosting for any length of time and, to us, this is a great idea.
Again, great post. Many, many thanks. Sometimes you explain things so much better than I can. Will link for my students' benefits.
This is a *fantastic* post, which (with your permission) I will reproduce on BlackBoard for my students. I'll place the link on your Facebook Group and Twitter feed though.
@trekie86: Actually, there's no need for a lawsuit, unless they changed the law which allowed the consumer a small payment *every time* the caller called. I can't remember where I read this, but I'll take a look and post it here if I can find it.
@Annalee Newitz: Neat! Now I can't think of anything! This thread was fun... I want to do it again!
@colormist: I'm glad you managed it! Do you think that in due time you'll appreciate it more? It's a little bit like a slow payback for me.
@verziehenone: Wouldn't it feel like "How did you get back, Starbuck?"
@colormist: One cue I wish I had gotten earlier... The language in which Borlú speaks is supposed to sound foreign. The rhythm is completely off... But the author starts introducing more hints that help us realize we're reading a translation and by then we're accustomed to how they say things.
@dalektikal: The guy is really multi-talented and I'm a bit embarrassed for those who do not seem to realize the depth of his talent. He's a hard worker that's for sure.
@faustmonkey: You need to go watch "The Proposition," stat.
Hi Annalee! Don't know if this post is the right place for the following info or if I should have posted in #tips, but here it is. Please forgive if I'm doing in it wrong.
@colormist: Hang in there... It does get better! On Saturday, I sat my ass down after all my corrections and started reading. To help me through I divided the rest of the books in chunks! That's how silly I was acting! Going "Woohoo! 2 more chunks to go!"
@ScavengerMonk: Really? Wow!
@33rd°: Sorry, reading this late so you may have already found your answer.
@wolvenhold: Good feedback! I haven't read it a second time yet, but I admit that read the last chapters 2-3 times each though... Lots of really good work there. Delicate construction.
@kleer001: Thanks for your interest! I thought the thread was dead!
@kleer001: Totally agree there! I made a few connections as well...
@kleer001: Unfortunately it would not fit in the other well-known category. The author created a new country with new rules, so it's not historical, and it's definitely not regular fiction as this world is so far from our reality... OK, so it's not really the darkest of dystopia but life does seem a little bit "Brave…
