One of my favorite reoccurring gags is every time he says the “seaward” everything stops...including the earth on its axis. 

Yeah, Lethal Weapon and Die Hard were first-time watches for me last year and I came away from both feeling pretty underwhelmed for the same reason.

Had the exact same experience with Wayne’s World in my 30s. I’d basically seen a rip-off version of every single joke in the movie in some other show or film.  

This I imagine happens with “classic movies” and all other very lauded, or very popular art when people come to them late. There’s a time window to see all this stuff.
