NO. I knew the film was building to something terrible, but I'm young enough not to be familiar with the events of the war in Lebanon. So it came as a complete surprise to me. And using animation for most of the film made the ending so much more powerful.

Regarding the 'howling for no reason in the middle of the night' thing: Could they be stressed about somehing? My cat did that until I changed her mealtimes. Her food dish would get empty before I woke up which made her anxious. So she'd wander around yelling, seemingly at nothing.

I have a sort-of tuxedo cat named Pancake, but now that I know there are mini Maine Coons in existance, I may have to trade her in.
