I mean...this is a really bad example, right? C’mon. Young boys are molested and not believed all the time. If there is one place where men/boys don’t have a huge edge, it’s getting molested and then not believed, right? Doesn’t this have more to do with the fact there was a third party witness, like a lot of things?

Ditto. Just went to check out some of their “music” on youtube, and I guess I have a surplus of “what the fuck?” to sell at a deep discount.

This is primarily what STelizabeth does on these types of threads - I’m used to her posting pictures of herself so that she can receive compliments and ‘validation’, and then she knocks herself out thanking all of her admirers, one by one, exhaustively.

LOL (thanks BA degree) you did post a pic in a article about a woman being shamed for being a higher weight. There’s some cognitive dissonance going on here, no matter how you want to wrap it up.

I’ve just read thru this thread, and I gotta say I didn’t take coolcucumbers posts as back handed at all, just misunderstood at best. But you seemed to turn it that way, and for some reason other kooks on here agreed, and attacked him/her. To me, now it seems like you are on here to tell your sad story, even though

Really? You post a photo of yourself, very thin, labeled as “TOTALLY FUCKABLE” in the comment section of an essay about struggling with the labels folks put on fat women. Then you deny you did it for compliments, but get miffed when a single commenter says s/he finds the photo pretty but not necessarily hot.

I don’t understand what your point is, either. “Yes, this is shitty, but we all know it’s shitty so we might as well just accept it and not ever talk about it.”

Blaming the person reporting on the bad behavior for the negative reaction to the bad behavior?

The problem is that they DON’T come around a label of feminism. Jezebel the site has staunchly refused to declare itself as a feminist publication over the years, regardless of the feminist nature (or not) of any of it’s writers.

You’re right that it’s hard to balance, but honestly, there are only two options I see as fair:

I guess the problem people have here is the lack of internal logic to it all. Like, there has been such a long history of Jezebel authors being indignantly outraged because so-and-so made a comment about some woman’s body, and so there has been a huge culture against “body shaming” here... doubly so if has to do with

There’s a lot here to unpack, but first question now . . .

I’m not sure why you’re in the grey. This comment is excellent. The thing, for me, is that the site is seeming to move into a more click-bait type model, which will naturally present some issues. She mentioned examples of how more somber pieces have gotten less clicks (67K) versus the posts where people took offense

What you meant: “It’s complicated, people. Let’s talk about it.”

Jezebel is nothing if not hypocritical.

meh she’s a c-lister now not attractive enough for a leading role in a big movie like this

What is it like to be shit?

Sadly that was when trade schools were somewhat popular with HS graduates. Shop class and Vo-Tech were seen as places you could start to learn skills to survive once HS was done but didn’t have to sweat college costs. Now it’s seen as below their station.

Also, it’s great until technology catches up and people realize they can get the job done cheaper and quicker without you. There’s a certain risk in going into a trade.
