If I remember correctly, Sci-Fi tried to stack the deck in their favor to not get this made by showing the cartoon late at night, no direct links to the cartoon on their website, nor a direct link to vote for it. However, fans on the Interwebs soon started posting links to get this made and Sci-Fi STILL said "No"

The top image made me think of the closing credit to Speed Racer when they go through the history of the automobile.

I lumped Blues Brothers into the 'Fantasy' part of the title, so I think it's a fair question.

My understanding, The Rocketeer had a few things against it when it came to theaters. They didn't know how to market it. It was a Disney film, but really for young teens and up and they tried to have a HUGE toy tie-in for this, which advertised it as a kids film. The initial marketing had the art deco-style poster

I HOPE they somehow sneak this ballad into the USO part of the film, just to add to the cheeseyness of that costume he has to wear.

One thing that has to be considered for Dark Knight's success...Heath Ledger died before the movie released and got a lot of press because of it. I think his death helped boost sales as people who might not have gone to see it in theaters, went. It was just a coincidence that it ALSO was a fantastic film which

Seems more like a mini-series than a regular series.

I like the irony that a vegan site purchased a photo of meat, therefore contributing to the demand for more meat photos, encouraging photographers to kill/cook more meat dishes.

While I understand why Empire will beat out Star Wars, unless you saw Star Wars (without the 'Episode IV A New Hope' in the crawl) waaay back in May, 1977 I think a majority of those voting for Empire will never fully grasp why Star Wars is and should be #1 in the ranking.
