Greg Turkington/Neil Hamburger was on Todd Barry's podcast saying that he's good friends with Gutfeld but has a hard time reconciling what he sees him saying on TV and the real guy. Kinda makes me think Gutfeld is at least 50% faking it, which might be worse than really believing it in this day and age.
Yeah, I just watched the second episode last night and thought it was pretty damn noticeable.
I hate using the term "rip off" cause it makes it sound like they're automatically shit or writing them off. In their heyday they were the only REM rip off band who could come close to matching REM's lyrical and musical sophistication. To be sure, they were a good band, just not sure they would have made music like…
"oh shit I heard that guy's band once twenty years ago. it sucked! fuck his life on the day he died!"
Wait, from Florida AND a Marilyn Manson fan? The hell you say
There were a few bands that seemed to kind of ape that certain Out of Time/Automatic R.E.M. aesthetic: TtWS, Live, maybe Counting Crows. None of that stuff holds up terribly well for me (ok, some CC does). Always tended to be a little too self-serious (particularly Live) with an overly dramatic lead singer with little…
They had some great stuff. For me they kinda bridge The Lemonheads and R.E.M. They had more of a power pop vibe than a band like Toad the Wet Sprocket who, while I like them a lot, were pretty much a straight up R.E.M. rip-off.
Tons of good songs, most of them by him, sadly.
I think a lot of it was "we have no money but we have to make something memorable" so that people would want to see it again and again
Yeah but a) they were still young (early 30s…I hope that's still young?) and b) that they ALL did it and took photos dressed like Miami mobsters seemed a little too much of a desperate "we're trying to change our image to adapt to the times!" move.
I'm gonna guess local since the show seems unwilling to lose any characters for any amount of time.
Is this part of the Surfer, Dude multiverse?
She might just not be showing very much. Melissa Fumero may have been completely popped during filming while Chelsea may not be showing much at all. Also probably helps re: wardrobe that Gina in general wears whatever she wants, while Amy is almost always in tailored business attire.
But I think that is what he wants to make! Remember, he began in advertising. That said, he does have a weird streak—having put two Cormac McCarthy movies into production, and actually getting one made.
Did Cary Fukunaga end up directing the pilot for this or is this another on his long list of projects that never happened or went on without him?
Agreed, they're the best. Raimi admittedly compromised a lot on 3 and didn't seem to like the inclination to make it bigger and less character-based.
Someone close to me had a facelift and their face really did take a while to settle, but it should at least look normal by around three weeks. Seems weird she couldn't schedule it around her filming schedule.
That said, she looked great on the Santa Clarita Diet.
I think I dropped out around the second George Sr. episode. Couldn't take much more of the Sweat and Squeeze thing.
Have to imagine someone of Tambor's stature probably has his lawyers makes sure he's allowed to at least do projects that don't interfere with his Amazon schedule.
