I've been blocked by exactly two people: Steve Agee and Chris Hardwick. I don't really remember either time. I *may* have said something kinda dickish to Hardwick (I was new to Twitter) but I can't imagine I said anything to Agee—I suspect it must have been something said sarcastically that he took the wrong way.

Yeah I didn't realize how long he'd been in showbiz until I heard he'd actually lived with Judd Apatow during *his* stand-up days. Whoa.

I think they did a little bit of shooting a year or two ago, then the bulk of it last year and finished reshoots recently.

Oh yeah, who was that? Jon Glaser?

It's kind of Apatow ripping himself off though, right?

Comedians really do seem to have a high opinion of themselves these days. I've heard "we're the modern philosophers" from a comedian on a podcast more than once.

I listened to an interview with Turturro and it sounds like the character is one he created for a play and the Coens just liked it so much they found a place for it in Lebowski. I'm not sure if he's going to have the same background or not.

I was amazed at how bad Zoolander 2 was. It's one of those sequels that absolutely does not trust its own jokes and constantly has to reference the best jokes from the original. But most of the time they just end up throw in random celebrity cameos to somehow double down on the joke. I don't think it's out of line to

Surely not, but it seemed like a self-indulgent and vaguely unprofessional thing to do.

Right, the other way he could have gone was to be a Woody Allen/Whit Stillman type who stayed within his wheelhouse and just made small, personal movies whenever he could get the money. But I'm guessing this way is a lot more lucrative.

Oh god, I remember reading that and being so embarrassed. All these bad jokes and View Askew references. How could a guy who'd only been in the biz for like 3 years be so self-indulgent? Oh wait, that's just his style.

True, and unfortunately Hollywood is a place where perception is everything. If you're perceived to be on a slide it can be as bad as actually being on a slide, which could be a problem for Affleck, particularly because the press seems to have their claws out for the guy.

It's amazing someone let him make that. It was a movie made almost solely of easter eggs. If it had just been a J&SB movie without all the references, it would have been more enjoyable.

According to Smith, it sounds like no. I wouldn't say his career is in jeopardy really either, but the press seems to have different ideas.

I think that's definitely where his success came from. Like, "oh this movie was made for nothing by this guy from nowhere, but it plays like a real comedy! amazing!" and I still think it's his best work. Problem is, he never seemed able to grow from there, and worse, never needed to because he had his sizable cult

I think Smith took the wrong trajectory in his career. I think if he had been a stand up and then maybe a screenwriter and been taken under the wing of an Apatow-like mentor to guide him, he could have written some great stuff. As is, he seems unable to expand on his pet subjects in a meaningful way. I would like

There are some funny lines in that movie, but Jesus, who makes a tribute to their own movies and particularly when they've only made FOUR? "Self-indulgent" doesn't quite cover it.

I met her once, and she was extremely nice and down to earth. She does not seem to give a single fuck about Hollywood, that's for sure.

Affleck is trying to *save* his career at this point. Also he and Smith haven't spoken in years.

He claimed for a while it was going to be turned into a TV show and had John Goodman on board and other shit, but yeah, didn't happen.
